Meet Mélodie, our new Pilates Teacher!
/Melodie, S.
Mélodie's Pilates journey began in 2020 in France, when she first turned to Pilates to relieve recurring back pain. After exploring different styles, she discovered Classical Pilates and quickly fell in love with the method. Since then, she's been hooked!
Having also studied nutrition for three years, Mélodie has always had a strong interest in health and well-being. Alongside her corporate career in Dublin, she decided to take her passion one step further. After completing her Classical Mat Pilates certification at an American Pilates school in Paris, she began teaching.
Mélodie loves introducing people to the joy of Mat Pilates and showing them just how challenging, rewarding and accessible it can be. Her goal is to help students build strength, confidence and body awareness while progressing at their own pace. Most importantly, she believes that hard work and having fun can go hand in hand, so expect plenty of laughter along the way!
Do you have any hobbies?
Pilates is obviously a big part of my life, but I'm also a huge dog lover! I often look after a husky from my neighbourhood, and I absolutely love going for runs with him. Although, to be fair, I spend more time running after him than actually running with him!
What's your favourite place you've travelled to?
Definitely Nepal! I loved the contrast between the busy, vibrant places and the incredibly peaceful, remote areas where you can completely disconnect and focus on meditation. And let's be honest, meditating is a lot easier when there's no internet connection to distract you!
What's your favourite Pilates exercise?
I would say the Boomerang on the Mat! I love how it combines elements of several exercises, including the Teaser and Rowing movements. It's a great challenge because it works not only your core strength but also your coordination, control and spinal mobility. There's so much happening in just one exercise, which is exactly what I love about Classical Pilates!
And what about your least favourite exercise?
Definitely the Saw! It reminds me every single time just how much I still need to work on my flexibility and spinal mobility. A very humbling exercise!
What do you like most about teaching Pilates?
One of my favourite things is seeing people leave class feeling happy, energised and proud of themselves. I especially love watching regular students progress and gain confidence. Sometimes, during their first class, an exercise like Rolling Like a Ball can seem quite intimidating. But after a few sessions, they start trusting themselves, enjoying the movement and really feeling the benefits of Pilates. Seeing that transformation is incredibly rewarding!
I also love watching students become more independent in their practice. As they become more familiar with the sequence, they start understanding the movements better, connecting with their bodies and focusing on the little details that make such a difference.
For me, that's the beauty of Classical Pilates: there's always something new to discover, improve or challenge yourself with. And if we can have a good laugh while doing it, even better!
Learn & practice Classical Pilates with Melodie in a small group class at 7pm on Tuesdays. Book your spot here.
